Few plants have captivated our attention like these.  The rose is a classic flower, whether given as a bouquet or grown in the garden, most can easily identify this bloom.  That being said, there are many differences between the various rose choices.  There is much that can be learned about some of these very popular shrubs.  See our section at the bottom of the page for more about the differences of each of these roses and what that means with regard to their care and winter tolerance.

Rosa 'Cuthbert Grant'

An outstanding member of the Parkland series, this award-winning rose blooms throughout the season with fragrant clusters of three to six. Often compared to those of hybrid teas, the memorable flowers are deep, velvety red and are splendid to behold. Resistant to disease, the foliage is a luxuriant glossy green. Own root.

Campfire Rose

Rosa 'CA 29' PP24,435

An exciting rose from the Canadian Artist Rose series, Campfire has exceptional hardiness combined with eye-catching blooms & bright glossy foliage. Shapely buds with yellow & red tones open to semi-double flowers of yellow, edged in a deep rosy pink. As the season progresses, the pink edging becomes more prominent and produces an incredible smoldering blend of yellow and deep pink blooms that continue until frost. Dark green glossy foliage has excellent disease resistance; stems are smooth with only the occasional short thorns. Campfire's luminescent blooms on a compact shrub will light up a landscape. Named in honor of Tom Thomson, one of the foremost artist in Canadian history. Own root.

Rosa 'Hansa'

'Hansa' typifies the hardy shrub rose for many because it's a vigorous and resilient rose with a splendid multi-seasonal display. The large blooms of vibrant reddish-violet release an intense clove fragrance, yet that's just a portion of it. With the approach of fall, the leaves take on an orange hue and a profusion of large, meaty red fruits. Own root.

Hope For Humanity Rose

Rosa 'Hope For Humanity'

The deep wine red buds of this splendid Parkland series rose appear in small clusters of four to five, then open to fragrant cupped flowers of blood red that bloom continuously throughout summer starting late in June. The lustrous green foliage has good resistance to disease and joins with the flowers for a striking result. Own root.

John Cabot Rose

Rosa 'John Cabot'

The first climber in the Explorer Series, this rose bears an abundance of fragrant blooms from early in summer until frost, in a gamut of shades from orchid-pink to fuchsia-red. Complemented by lustrous soft green foliage along the vigorous canes, the lovely flowers are followed by attractive hips of orange. Own root.

Morden Blush Rose

This floriferous Parkland series rose has beautiful pointed buds of ivory and blush that open to sweetly fragrant, high centered blooms of creamy ivory blushed with pink at the center. As they mature, the lovely flowers fade fully to ivory. Low growing, with glossy green foliage, 'Morden Blush' also provides orange-red fruit in fall. Own root.

Rosa 'Morden Centennial'

This Parkland series rose flowers all season with especially profuse flushes of rich pink flowers at beginning and end. The lightly scented blooms appear in clusters among healthy, disease resistant foliage before being replaced by persistent red hips. While reliably hardy in zone 3, some success has been reported in zone 2. Own root.

MORDEN SUNRISE ROSE

Rosa 'Morden Sunrise'

The first yellow-flowering of the Parkland series, this rose has dark foliage with much improved resistance to blackspot. The creamy orange-yellow buds open to fragrant flowers with wavy petals and orange stamens. As they age, the color matures from dark orange over yellow, to light orange with bright yellow, to creamy yellow with white. Own root. Budded.

Rosa 'Rotesmeer'

The bright green foliage of this rose has excellent disease resistance and forms a nice mounded plant well suited for use in mass plantings or as a colorful low hedge. Flowers are a purplish red with bright yellow stamens. With the approach of autumn, intensely fragrant blooms are replaced by colorful dark red hips. Own root.

Rugosa Rose

Rosa rugosa

The pointed buds of this rugged, adaptable rose open to flowers of a heady, spicy perfume. Propagated from seed, the blooms may vary from pale pink and deep rose to nearly crimson, with an occasional white for good measure. The disease resistant foliage is deeply veined, enhanced by brilliant fall color and bright red hips. Own root.

Snow Pavement Rose

Rosa 'Schneekoppe'

The fragrant blooms of this tough rose open from full pink buds to lovely white flowers that retain just a tinge of pink. The rugosa, disease resistant foliage is dark green and provides a subtle backdrop for informal flowers. In autumn, it is graced with large red hips that add a wonderful element to the fall and winter garden. Own root.

Rosa 'Winnipeg Parks'

The pointed buds of this Parkland rose are borne in small clusters of deep pinkish-red and open to dark cherry pink flowers with a dark pink reverse. The slightly fragrant flowers age to dark pink backed by matte green foliage that takes on a reddish tinge in fall. With a bonus of red hips, this compact, low growing rose is a beauty. Own root.

Rosa rugosa alba

Like Rosa rugosa, this white rose adapts to a variety of conditions, including where salt tolerance is a concern. Its pale blush pink buds open to highly fragrant snow-white blooms with creamy yellow stamens. In fall, the disease resistant foliage takes on shades of orange and scarlet to accompany the large orange red hips. Own root.
